How Credits Work in OSRS TCG: Earning, Kills and Level-Up Bonuses
Credits buy booster packs in OSRS TCG. Here's exactly how you earn them — from skilling XP, monster kills and level-ups — and how to maximise your credits per hour.

Credits are the lifeblood of OSRS TCG — the only thing that buys booster packs, and a Standard Pack costs 2,500 credits. Understanding where credits come from is the difference between grinding blind and grinding smart. Here's the full breakdown, straight from how the plugin actually works.
The three ways to earn credits
1. Non-combat skilling XP
Every point of non-combat XP feeds a credit pool. The base conversion is 1,000 non-combat XP → 100 credits. So 25,000 XP earns roughly 2,500 credits — about one pack. This is your steady, reliable drip, and it's why skilling is the backbone of the mode. Fast XP methods are, quite literally, fast credits.
The community rule of thumb — 100 points per 1,000 XP — matches the plugin exactly.
2. Monster kills (your combat income)
Here's the twist that catches new players out: combat XP does not convert to credits. Killing things pays a different way — a flat credit reward per kill, scaled by the monster's combat level: roughly credits per kill ≈ the monster's combat level.
That's why the community obsesses over high-combat-level, AFK-friendly targets like the Gemstone crab (combat level ~160). A single kill of something that beefy is worth far more than a swarm of low-level rats. It's not about XP — it's about the combat level on the nameplate.

Monster • Varlamore
The shiniest crustacean this side of the shoreline.

Monster
A very large elemental adversary.

Monster • Misthalin
Doesn't skip leg day.
3. Level-up bonuses (every skill counts)
Every time any skill levels up — combat or non-combat — you get a one-time level-up bonus. And it scales hard:
- Early levels pay around 1,250 credits each.
- The bonus climbs on an exponential curve as you go.
- Hitting level 99 (and each virtual level beyond) pays up to 25,000 credits — ten packs from a single level.
This is the hidden reason your first hours feel so generous: you're levelling constantly, and each level-up is a mini-jackpot. It's also why levelling a combat skill still pays even though combat XP doesn't — the level-up fires the bonus, and the kills along the way pay per combat level.
Putting it together: where the credits come from
| Activity | How it pays | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Training a non-combat skill | 100 credits / 1,000 XP + level-up bonuses | Steady, AFK-friendly income |
| Killing monsters | ~combat level per kill + level-up bonuses | High-combat-level AFK targets (crabs, giants) |
| Levelling any skill | 1,250 → 25,000 per level (scales to 99) | Early game and long-term milestones |
| Clue scrolls | Community reports tiered payouts (beginner → master) | Variety / occasional bonus |
Watch your credits per hour
Turn on the credits infobox in the plugin config and enable credits per hour. This live counter is the single best tool for comparing methods — if a new training spot makes the number go up, it's better. Simple as that.
Quick tips to earn faster
- Chase level-ups early. When everything is low-level you're levelling constantly, and each bonus dwarfs the XP conversion. Spread your early XP around.
- For combat, pick the highest combat level you can safely AFK. Crabs and giants win because the per-kill reward tracks combat level, not effort.
- Fast non-combat XP = fast credits. Anything efficient in normal OSRS is efficient here. Wintertodt is a community favourite for exactly this reason — see the Skilling Starter Guide.
- Don't grind combat XP expecting credits. It won't pay. Let the kills and level-ups do the earning.

Frequently asked
- How do you earn credits in OSRS TCG?
- Three ways: non-combat XP converts at about 100 credits per 1,000 XP, each monster kill pays credits roughly equal to its combat level, and every skill level-up pays a one-time bonus from about 1,250 credits early up to 25,000 at level 99.
- Does combat XP give credits in OSRS TCG?
- No. Combat XP does not convert to credits. Combat pays you through the per-kill reward (scaled by the monster's combat level) and through the level-up bonus when a combat skill levels.
- How many credits is a pack in OSRS TCG?
- A Standard Pack costs 2,500 credits and reveals 5 cards. At 100 credits per 1,000 non-combat XP, that's roughly 25,000 XP per pack from skilling alone, before level-up bonuses.
