Trading, Collecting & the Unwritten Rules of OSRS TCG
How trading works in OSRS TCG, the 'dupes only' honour code, sharing your collection, the cardcore clan on world 356 — and the safety warnings every player should know before they get PK'd.

OSRS TCG isn't just a solo grind — there's a whole community layer of trading, collecting and self-imposed rules that make the mode what it is. Here's how it all works, and the etiquette (and safety warnings) worth knowing before you dive in.
Trading cards with other players
The plugin has built-in party trading — when you're in a RuneLite party with another player, you can trade cards directly. It's how you fill gaps in your collection and offload the duplicates you'll inevitably stack up. But there's a strong honour code around what you're allowed to trade.
The "dupes only" honour code
The near-universal community rule: you only trade or sell duplicates. Trading away non-duplicate cards to fund packs is widely seen as cheating.
No trade, we all irons.
I only sell dupes. As do most.
This keeps the challenge honest: your collection reflects what you actually pulled and unlocked, not what you bought from someone else. Players who bend this rule get called out — one well-known YouTuber caught flak for "selling all his rare ones" and "playing with output" (a looser ruleset). Which brings us to the big caveat…
There is no single official ruleset
OSRS TCG is an honour-system challenge, and different players and content creators run different rules. The big variables:
- Interaction rules — normal vs extreme. On a normal ruleset you can gather items you haven't unlocked but must bank them until you pull the card. On an extreme ruleset you can't interact with a source at all until everything from it is unlocked.
- Foil unlocks. What a foil unlocks is its own debate — see Foil Cards: What People Are Saying.
- Card gates. Small stuff like whether the guard card is required to mark guards during Children of the Sun varies between rulesets.
The practical advice: pick a ruleset, stay consistent, and match your group or the creator series you're following so your progress is comparable.
Sharing your collection & highscores
You can show off your collection online. Turning on "Share collection online" in the plugin config uploads your collection so it's publicly viewable under your display name, alongside community highscores.
Highscores were a live drama point at launch (the community both loves and side-eyes ranking a "for fun" mode), and the maintainers moved to gate hardcore highscores fairly. Whether you chase the leaderboard or just want a shareable album, it's an easy way to flex a collection score.
The cardcore clan (world 356)
The community organised into a clan — "Cardcoreosrs" — that recruits on world 356. To join you typically need an application open on that world with a key-holder present. It filled fast on launch weekend, driven by tireless inviters and mods.
- Do NOT touch the Ardougne or wilderness levers on w356. PKers camp them specifically to snipe cardcore players. If you must lever, hop to a dead world first.
- White Wolf Mountain — run the perimeter, don't cut across; the wolves have ended runs.
- Harpies near the iron-pickaxe / blast-mine spawn have killed unprepared players.
- The Wilderness / Chaos Altar is great Prayer XP but risky — several players lost hardcore status there.
- Wintertodt will kill you if your warmth (HP) hits zero — bring food that heals 4+ HP.
Please do not go to the lever on w356... all the PKers know that's the cardcore world.
It's okay, I wasn't attached to the status, lol.
Collecting goals
Beyond raw pack-ripping, the long game is completing sets and pushing your collection score. Players trade dupes to close gaps, chase specific white-whale cards like Coins, and compare collection scores that run into the tens of millions (multiple 40m+ scores were flexed at launch, with one player over 100m). Set completion also triggers party announcements, so your friends share the moment.

Post what you want, match a dupe, settle it in the plugin.
Frequently asked
- Can you trade cards in OSRS TCG?
- Yes, through the plugin's built-in party trading — you and another player join a RuneLite party and trade cards directly. This site helps you find a match first: post the card you want and the card you'll give, then settle the deal in the plugin's Trade window.
- What is the dupes-only rule in OSRS TCG?
- The near-universal community honour code is that you only trade or sell duplicate cards. Trading away non-duplicates to fund packs is widely considered cheating, because your collection should reflect what you actually pulled.
- Is it safe to play cardcore on world 356?
- World 356 is the known cardcore world, so PKers target it. Avoid the Ardougne and wilderness levers there, run the White Wolf Mountain perimeter rather than crossing it, and weigh the Chaos Altar carefully — several players have lost hardcore status to these.
