- RequiresWoodcuttingNo level gate — cutting the surrounding jungle with a machete is the main task and how most players earn favour.
- RequiresCombatNo level gate. An alternative to cutting jungle once you've earned trading sticks at least once: kill wild jungle spiders or fight off what attacks you while cutting.
The one thing you need
Cutting the jungle is the core of the minigame, and a machete is the only tool it requires. Everything else here is either an upgrade or something the activity throws at you.
- RequiresA machete
Cuts the light, medium and dense jungle around the village. Sold at Jiminua's Jungle Store nearby.
Better machetes — an upgrade, not a requirement
Opal, jade and red topaz machetes cut jungle progressively faster than the regular one. They're occasional random rewards from cutting, not something you buy or bring in.
- Any ofAn upgraded machete(optional)
Each tier chops faster than the last — a nice-to-have, never required to take part.
What attacks you, and what you can hunt for favour
Cutting jungle triggers random attacks rather than requiring you to seek out a fight, and Broodoo victims and wild jungle spiders offer a pure-combat route to favour once you've unlocked it.
- Any ofWandering attackers(optional)
Random events while cutting jungle — poison starts at 11 damage per hit, so bring a cure if you plan to keep going.
- OptionalBroodoo victims
Combat level 60, with strong ranged magic attacks. Killing them earns favour and is safer once Tai Bwo Wannai Trio is complete, thanks to the nearby Tribal Statue acting as an altar.
- OptionalJungle spiders — a pure-combat alternative
A faster way to earn favour for high-combat accounts, but only works after you've obtained trading sticks at least once by repairing a fence.
Gear for the fight
None of this is needed to cut jungle, but it matters if you're taking the combat route, especially against Broodoo victims' magic attacks.
- Any ofPoison protection(optional)
Poison from jungle threats and Broodoo victims starts heavy — any of these cures it.
- OptionalSerpentine helm
A strong pick against Broodoo victims specifically, thanks to its poison immunity and magic defence.
Rare finds, and what favour buys
Cutting jungle occasionally turns up something better than wood, and favour itself is spent with the villagers for trading sticks.
- Any ofRare finds while cutting(optional)
Occasional finds while chopping — a gout tuber, a gem to cut, or a spade among the undergrowth.
- OptionalTrading sticks
The reward currency: villagers hand these out in exchange for a slice of your favour, and Rionasta will bank items for 10 sticks each.
