Castle Wars

Free-to-play

Old School RuneScape minigame · OSRS TCG card mapping

A team capture-the-flag minigame: take the enemy team's standard from their castle and return it to yours, faster than they can do the same to you. It's a safe activity — you keep everything on death and respawn straight back in — and games pay tickets toward a set of decorative rewards.

Castle Wars is a free-to-play Old School RuneScape minigame needing Combat, found at West of Yanille, or through the portal in Ferox Enclave. This page maps Castle Wars to the OSRS TCG — the card game played through the RuneLite plugin — listing what you take in, grouped by what each item is for, with every item linked to its card. The OSRS Wiki remains the guide to playing it.

Before you can take part

  • RequiresCombatNo entry requirement at all, and free-to-play since 2017 — you bring whatever combat gear your build calls for.

What to bring — your own loadout, within the rules

Castle Wars restricts what you can carry rather than requiring anything specific: only Castle Wars tickets, potions, runes and combat equipment (besides scarves and capes) make it through the gate. Food is banned, but bandages are handed out freely inside; Alchemy, jewellery-enchant spells, Lunar Heal Other/Cure Me, and the dwarf multicannon are all switched off for the game.

Tools you'll find inside

A few special items respawn freely around the arena and disappear once the game ends — you don't bring these in, you pick them up on the day.

  • OptionalBarricade

Picked up from tables in your own castle and placed anywhere in the arena to block the opposing team's path.

  • OptionalBandages

Found in the spawn room and heal like food does, since food itself is banned from the arena.

  • Any ofBreaking through the underground tunnels(optional)

The underground passages can be collapsed with rocks using a pickaxe or an explosive potion, and cleared again the same way; a tinderbox is a common tool for burning through barricades blocking the way.

What your tickets buy

At least fifteen minutes in a game earns Castle Wars tickets, spent with Lanthus in the main lobby on a mix of decorative rewards and Castle Wars-specific gear — none of it grants combat stats, it's cosmetic and quality-of-life.

  • OptionalCastle Wars ticket

The currency for everything below, paid out per game played.

  • OptionalCastle wars supply crate

Traded from Lanthus using plaudits earned alongside your tickets on dedicated Castle Wars worlds.

  • Any ofA team banner(optional)

Decorative capes for the team you played, bought with tickets.

  • Any ofA team halo(optional)

Cosmetic head-slot rewards for the three gods represented by the arena's portals.

  • OptionalCastle wars bracelet

A consumable that boosts healing, damage and ammo pickup for three games before it's used up — a genuine tactical upgrade rather than a cosmetic.

Castle Wars — frequently asked

What is the minimum you need for Castle Wars?
No specific items — just Combat.
Which OSRS TCG cards are tied to Castle Wars?
Every item on this page that exists in the catalogue is linked to its card, grouped by what it is for. Cards are pulled from packs in the OSRS TCG RuneLite plugin, and you can trade for the ones you are missing on OSRS Card Exchange.
Is there an OSRS TCG card for Castle Wars itself?
No. The OSRS TCG has cards for Old School RuneScape's items and monsters, not for its minigames — so there is no "Castle Wars" card. What this page maps is the other way round: the items Castle Wars asks you to bring, each one linked to the card that depicts it.
